HOW TO TRANSFER FILES BETWEEN A SMARTPHONE AND A COMPUTER VIA WIFI (without using mobile data)


 This is a  tutorial that shows how to transfer files between a smartphone and a computer via wifi (without using mobile data)

It is possible to do this with quite a number of apps but for this tutorial will be using Xender and Es File explorer
Using Xender (click to install)
  • Launch xender on your smartphone, click "send" and click "connect to pc"


  • click on the hotspot icon(or click "connect using hotspot")

  • Connect your computer to your phones hotspot
  • Launch a browser on your computer and type in the IP address showing on your phones screen ( click "enter")
Accept the notification that pops up on your phones screen




  • This UI appears on your computer, to tranfer files to your phone just drag them and drop them on the "mobile icon"
Using Es File Explorer (click to install)
Switch on the mobile hotspot of your phone and connect your pc to it.
Launch the app and click on the menu (located at the top left corner of the screen)
click on "Network"
click on"Remote Manager"
Click "turn on WLAN" (an ftp address shows on your screen)
Enter the ftp address in the location bar of your pc (its highlighted with red in the picture below)
